Audaphon

AudaphonŽ drivers feature an excellent price / performance ratio. Only high-grade materials are used to ensure solidity and best possible sound. Audaphon ribbons have solid 4 and 6.5 mm front plates with damping material on the reverse side. All ribbons employ strong Neodym magnets. Selected pairs are supplied when a minimum of two units are ordered.

Audaphon Ribbon Tweeter

There are two different materials for ribbons: 0.009 mm aluminium foil, like the JP ribbons These ribbons show an incredible airiness; they need, however, to be protected carefully against low frequencies, by means of 18 dB crossover and should never be connected directly (without capacitor) to a measuring device.

The next type of ribbon is the Neo range with a stronger ribbon that is roughly 50% heavier and has with a 0.020 mm gauge double the thickness. These could be used in conjunction with 12 dB crossovers.

Particularly impressive is the Neo 5i ribbon, equipped with 4 high power Neodym magnets, totalling a weight of 2.7 kg.

Circular ribbon with high efficiency of 90 (1W/1m) dB and frequency range up to 40 kHz. This ribbon come with a 4.5 mm gauge aluminium front plate, looking impressive with its sandblasted surface.

Audaphon JP 3.0

JP 3.0

Circular ribbon with high efficiency of 91 (1W/1m) dB and frequency range up to 40 kHz, construction similar to Neo CD 3.0, however, without black anodised aluminium front plate. Additionally, the extremely light aluminium ribbon, showing an incredible airiness, should be protected against frequencies below 1000 Hz. It should also not be connected directly (without capacitor) to a measuring device.

Audaphon tweeter, mids and woofer

The TWS 25/6 surprises with a high resonance frequency; when fitted to a cabinet, however, no negative effect could be noticed. This driver harmonises extremely well with other upmarket drivers, so much that Dennis Frank started right away designing several speakers, like Mini, Mini 6.5 and Midi.

The cabinet volume calculations are executed considering an external resistance of 0.3 Ohm. We are using, if no other data is known or available, the information supplied by the manufacturer.

Please note: the frequency response doesn't say much about the cut-off frequency inside the cabinet! Therefore, we mostly give you 2 examples with dimensioning considerations and an indication, how low the loudspeaker will reproduce.
