For the HiFi-Music-World 2005 fair end of May in Gelsenkirchen / Germany a compact monitor with excellent three-dimensionality was needed. For that purpose Nick Baur made available a pair of One Point Monitors.

The visitors confirmed Bernd Timmermanns' enthusiastic comments in Hobby HiFi 5/2004 and Hobby HiFi Special Edition 1:

Description

Jim Thiel / USA - not to be mixed up with Bernhard Thiel/Accuton, whose products we sell as well - developed a wonderful coincidentally mounted driver, (coincident source array) who encouraged us to offer top quality drivers coming from the finished loudspeaker market. The inherent problem of multiple drivers mounted side by side or one behind the other (coax drivers) is the lack of precise imaging. This kit suggests a coincident source driver that is time and phase coherent regarding low and high frequencies.

If required, a subwoofer may added at a later stage.

The kit consists of:
- 1 x Thiel coincidentally mounted driver, not shielded
- 1 x polyester fleece
- 0.5 x foam sealing tape MDM-5
- 1 x bass reflex tubes HP 50
- 2 x terminals
- 6 x Allen screws 4x25 mm
- 1.5 m Spirit of HighSilver cable 2x2.5 mm²

Building Instruction

The cabinet consists of 6 panels that may be lined with Bitumex or Bawotumex.. The bass reflex port is on the rear side, but may also be placed on the front panel beneath the Thiel coincidentally mounted driver.

Crossover

The crossover is somewhat simpler than the one of the standard Cumulus.
