Florian 13The Newtronics Florian 13 is small shelf speaker that doesn't offer extreme bass, but has an easy-going and lively sound.

This speaker was designed in the course of a practical training that was given by us. The goal was to design a small speaker with excellent sound quality and had to be considerably more compact than the NT52 designed by Udo Wohlgemuth, but with all tonal advantages that come with new Newtronics drivers.

The Florian 13 is equipped with a Newtronics HT 26 tweeter, made in Denmark.HT26

For low frequencies the Newtronics BT 13-4 bass driver was employed. This driver is no low bass specialist but still plays extremely clean even at higher volumes.

Those of you who don't care that much for sound pressure level and rather prefer lower bass - and maybe a ribbon tweeter, might consider the NT 13 Neo designed by Udo Wohlgemuth.
 
 

Our kit contains:
- the Newtronics HT26 tweeter
- the BM13-4 bass driver
- a Jetline 45 flared tube
- 1/2 mat polyester fleece (1/4 pack)
- two binding posts
- 1 1/2 m cable
- 8 Pan screws
the crossover components to be mounted on wood:
- 1.5 mH air core coil, 1.4 mm
- 0.22 mH air core coil, 0.7 mm
- 10 uF Audyn MKP capacitor
- 6.8 uF Audyn MKP capacitor
- 2.7 Ohm MOX4 resistor (red-purple-gold)
- 4.7 Ohm MOX4 resistor (yellow-purple-gold)

Test results

The crossover cuts off at approx. 2500 Hz, the intersection is 6 dB below the total frequency response,
confirming that the drivers are in phase. Florian 13
Frequency response is flat, especially at 15 and 30 degree angles, proving that the speaker is suitable for every day use. Florian 13

The crossover

The crossover has 12 dB/octave. Therefore, the phase angle rotation is
is justified, since the tweeter is less strained at lower frequencies. Florian 13
Air core coils, MKP capacitors as well as MOX4 resistors are used throughout.

Building Instruction

The cabinet consists of 6 rectangular board. The tweeter is countersunk, the low rimmed bass driver is mounted on top of the baffle, but could be mounted countersunk as well. Florian 13
