A floorstander with PA drivers - that was the objective by the MPower designers. The PA bass driver MPA WM8 is already known from the CT 239. The speaker employs a 2-way design with two midrange / bass drivers and a Mivoc MPA HPA 268 NEO PA-Horn. The horn is surrounded by the two mid / bass drivers (D'Appolito arrangement).

The MPower is fully suitable for HiFi, handles a lot of power and is quite dynamic.

Excerpt from the review in Klang+Ton 2/2009:

... "Without relinquishing the high frequency dynamics the HPA horn presents a clean and neutral sound without the feared megaphone effect. The tweeter's midrange is on a par with the cones' and adds the necessary spice to the horn's openness. From the punchy bass right up to the tops the MPower displays a remarkably crisp and well balanced sound. An especially important attribute of this speaker is the lust for volume. It's almost immaterial how much the volume is cranked up, the MPower encourages to turn it up even further. The high frequency horn is protected by means of level reduction. The bass drivers are safeguarded by a clever design: the suspension becomes harder with increased excursion. They will eventually start mechanical compression, but they are protected. And as far as they are not being used for sound reinforcement of an Olympic stadium they are basically indestructible. Keeping that in mind I play "Rage Against The Machine" and wind up the volume of the pre-amp. Rarely did I sit across a loudspeaker that conveyed extreme levels in such a pleasant way. At the same time, I was amazed at the attention to detail, despite the high output. OK, the MPower doesn't look for a perpetrator coughing in row 73 with a magnifying glass, but on the other hand nothing essential is suppressed either. No doubt, the strength of this floorstander is volume and there is plenty of it."

Impedance correction for connecting a valve amp

If you wish to use a valve amp we recommend the following impedance correction:

- 6.8 Ohm MOX10 resistor (blue-grey-gold)
